How much solar do I need to charge one 100 Ah battery?

An exact amount cannot be provided as many factors need to be taken into consideration. However, as a general rule of thumb, during peak summer temperatures we get approximately 5 hours of full sunlight per day. In order to charge a 100 Ah Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) battery that has been discharged to 50%, you will need 5 hours of charging at 10 Ah per hour to recharge back to capacity which is equivalent to a minimum of 180 W solar panel at max performance.

Should I charge my RAPS44 before storing it away after a camping trip?

Yes! If you store your battery pack for long periods of time without charging it, the battery pack will discharge and will result in battery cell damage. To prevent this from happening, charge your batteries or keep them connected to automatic chargers up to 10 A before storing your battery for periods longer than a month.

How long will my CFX run on my car battery?

After you turn the car ignition off, the length of run time will vary depending on many factors such as the size and condition of your car and battery, CFX model, set fridge temperature and ambient temperature. Generally speaking, the run time will be quite short – just enough time for you to duck in and grab a few supplies.

TIP: If you need extended run times, a dual battery system is the way to go.

How long will I be able to run my CFX 50W for when free camping?

There are a number of factors that can impact the runtime of your CFX. Variables such as how frequently the CFX is opened, the number of warm products being placed in the CFX, ambient temperature and the size of your accessory battery. For example, if you use the Dometic CoolPower RAPS44, 44 Ah battery pack, your CFX 50W can run as a refrigerator in ambient 32 °C for approximately 36 hours. For longer times, you will need a solar panel to charge your battery.

Can I use olive oil to lubricate the seals on my cassette toilet?

It is not recommended to use olive oil to lubricate the seals as it can deteriorate the material of the toilet, breed bacteria and attract insects. Additionally, olive oil does not contain additives for formal mechanical lubrication. We recommend using silicone spray to lubricate seals on the cassette toilet.

Do I need to remove the hot water from my water tank when I’m not travelling?

It’s recommended to remove any remaining water in the tank when it’s not being used for a period of time as it can breed bacteria and deteriorate the material of the water tank.

How long does it take for my hot water system to heat up?

The time it takes to heat up is dependent on the temperature of the water. However, generally the Dometic Water Heater takes around 30 minutes to heat up the 22.7 l of water in the tank. Whilst the Eberspächer Hydroplates takes up to 10 minutes for the system to pre-heat once it’s turned on, then the unit can provide on demand hot water.
